The Shockwave/air over leaf is what I'd been looking at, though if I go this way, I'll keep the shackles as is. The kit will be cheaper in the end and you will still have hair on your head when you are finished. If you have never installed air ride/ air suspension before, get the kit. Are you planning on running a straightned rear leaf set up with helper style bags (the cheaper way and not much in the way of adjustment which is called air over leaf) or changing the rear end to a four link (air four link) or.? I found a pic on fatman suspension site where they actually removed the rear spring shackle and put the bag at the end of the leaf? But do to the shape of the rear body work of our cars you would see to much of it and it would look like point is clearance, what wheels are you running? Do you have the room to make it worth it? If you are only able to adjust the ride height by a couple of inches. I have run air in a few of my cars and there are a few other points that have not been brought up. I think AirRide is a sponsor on both those sites so be careful of the subliminal advertising! The owner and some of his employees frequent these sites so you can effectively get their skew straight from the horses mouth, so to speak. I would think that sites where guys are doing a lot of conversions to their cars are probably your best bet. Word of mouth is your best insurance as far as getting the right part for your application. If I were you I would go on a few other car sites and ask around. Do you REALLY need a self leveler or is it just a "neat" thing to have? Do you really need an LED readout or can you go a little more basic and still get the info you need? Really think about what you want the system to do and what you can do without. Not sure what your budget is but Airride and most other companies that do air suspensions should have a kit for budget minded people like yourself. Nothing worse than being in the middle of an install and realizing you're missing a 90* brass female/male elbow with a particular thread pitch! AirRide and, I think, the link I posted can give you a kit for what you want without you having to go to hell and high water looking for all the pieces you need to put it together. They've effectively done all the foot work for you. The time and money it takes to piece it all together. Been looking at Dakota Digital for a control system, I know there are many more cheapies to choose from-I need to practice the- get what you pay for thing!!! He wasn't counting on the little stuff (fittings,brackets etc), that just ate him up.įrom what I've heard, Ridetech is the best-I guess you get what you pay for. When he tallied the final cost when his project was done, he could have purchased 2 complete kits from Ridetech. I had a friend that bagged his S10 on a "buy when I can" budget-bags one month, air valves the next, and so on.
